International Expert


Kerri is a renowned international expert in urbanism and regeneration, and has held several national and international expert appointments and honours.

Kerri is currently a Validated Expert for the €1.2bn EU URBACT IV programme (2024-2027) for Urban Development & Spatial Planning; Housing; Culture & Heritage.  Validated Experts are retained on a variety of URBACT initiatives to provide ad-hoc technical expertise and leadership.  Kerri is currently Lead Thematic Expert for an innovative pilot programme with 9 Balkan cities, supporting them to develop best practice in sustainability & urban greenspace and planning policy, strategy & operations; climate change adaptation & resilience; biodiversity; and health & wellbeing.  This role includes supporting each city to develop & deliver a pilot green infrastructure (GI) project.

Kerri is also a long-term advisor to METREX, the European Association of Metropolitan Authorities, on a range of policy, strategy and delivery topics including Housing, Spatial Planning and organisational positioning.

She is also an experienced peer reviewer, including as Head Assessor for the prestigious European City of the Year Award from 2010-2019; RIBA Design Review Expert, for Royal Institute of British Architecture (2010 to date); panellist for Le Monde/International Urban Development Association ‘Grand Prix’ city awards; and for a number of cities in Europe, China and SE Asia.

Other key national and international advisory appointments include:-

  • World Bank and European Commission, including as retained expert for a pilot programme from 2021-2023 with urban areas in 8 Eastern European states, supporting them on a range of topics including spatial planning, urban greening, housing, public transport, culture & heritage and major projects.

  • Regional and national governments, on a wide range of topics including city spatial planning; urban development public-private-partnerships (eg. JVs, ABVs, UDCs, URCs, MDZs, SEZs, IZs, freeports); asset management; utilities infrastructure; major transport hubs (rail, sea & air) and associated roles eg. peer review

  • host cities of the European and UK Capital of Culture

  • Thinkhouse, an online peer-reviewed portal for research and innovation in housing, curated & evaluated each month by an Editorial Board, which Kerri has been a member of since its inception in 2017

  • Commonwealth Games Federation (Manchester 2002, Delhi 2010, Glasgow 2016)

  • the International Festival of Business (2016 & 2018)

  • Board Director at the International Urban Development Association (INTA) from until 2023, including being nominated as Deputy-President from 2018-2023

  • Board Member for In Place Of War (IPOW) until 2020
